Lorne is survived by his sister Audrey; brothers: Daniel, David (Della), Mark, Murray (JoAnne) Lyle; nieces & nephews; great-nephews and nieces; and a great-great nephew. Predeceased by grandparents Herman & Rosina Schmidtz; Mike & Anna Phillips; parents August & Louise; brothers James & Ken; brother-in-law Vic Hagel; nephew Brad; and great-niece Jordan and numerous cousins.
Lorne was born in Humboldt, SK on May 3, 1946, the second of nine children. The family lived in St. Gertrude, St. Gregor, Humboldt, Luseland, Meadow Lake, and lastly Saskatoon. An excerpt from the Phillips Family History book, as written by his mother "In his childhood, Lorne was observant and fun loving. He enjoyed romping around with his brothers and sister. He always had a knack for defending himself with his cheerful disposition." He enjoyed spending time outdoors, leafing through magazines and watching television. He enjoyed fishing, family, traveling, a beer and food. Lorne's residence for the last 20 years has been Sherbrooke Community Centre. Thank you to the staff and elders who shared Lorne’s life with care, understanding and love until his passing. In spite of his handicaps Lorne faced his life with strength and humour!
A visitation for Lorne will take place from 2:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Mourning Glory Funeral Services (1201 8th Street East, Saskatoon, SK). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Parish (222 Willow St., Saskatoon). Rite of Committal will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery following reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sherbrooke Foundation, Saskatchewan Abilities Council would be appreciated.
