Margot was born and raised in Offenburg Germany in the beautiful Black Forest. After finishing her schooling she set out for a time as an Au Pair in London after that she returned home...but still she had itchy feet and decided to go to the USA. After a long train ride to the north of Germany and a rough voyage across the Atlantic she arrived at Grand Central Station in New York CIty.
Exhausted, she lay down on a bench and fell asleep, only to awake and find a thief had stolen her money. Tired and hungry she took the train to Ohio where she had an uncle and aunt. After she got some rest she moved on to Chicago and then to Sacramento California. When she decided to go home she took a bus to New York and eventually back to Offenburg .
That's when Terry, her future husband, showed up. He was traveling through Europe at the time and met Margot in Offenburg. They hit it off and one thing led to another and they got engaged in Paris and married in Saskatoon on June 9th, 1966. After this, she settled into a very good fabric artist working in various outlets and galleries. Once she was sent to Ottawa to represent Saskatoon on Canada Day. She won many international awards with her embroideries depicting the Saskatchewan Prairie. Hiking in the Nisbet Forest was her greatest love...or maybe it was the Fall Suppers afterwards.
She made many friends performing with the International Folk Dancers in Saskatoon
On the 9th of June 2026 her and Terry celebrated 60 years of marriage and on the 25th of June she passed away.
She is remembered and loved by family on both sides of the Atlantic but most of all by her husband Terry.
A Private Graveside Service for family will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens (210 Wess Road, Saskatoon).
