It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Henderson in Saskatoon on November 22, 2022 at the age of 98 years. Marion was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 12, 1924 and grew up on the family farm outside Craik, Saskatchewan.
She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Josephine Henderson; her brothers Warren, John, and Donald, her sister-in-law Sis Henderson, her brother-in-law Glenn Stevenson, and nephews, Dwayne and Ross. She is survived by her lifelong friend Agatha Bundon, her sister Elaine Stevenson; her sister-in-law, Fran Henderson, her nieces Elaine, Sue, Brenda, Linda and Nancy; and her nephews Mike and Kevin.
Marion was the eldest child and attended high school in Regina at Scott Collegiate. She enjoyed a long career working with Canadian National Railway in Saskatoon from 1947 to 1987. Throughout the years, there were many visits to the family farm in Rosehill, always filled with laughter and love. Upon her retirement, she travelled to Europe and began to spend winters in Clearwater, Florida where wonderful times were enjoyed with family and friends.
Marion was the centerpiece, the glue to each generation of the family; with her parents, siblings and her nieces and nephews. She cared for her parents and her siblings and was a key person in the lives of her nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved by them all. Her brilliant mind, wonderful sense of humour, and keen interest in people and the world around her brought joy to every occasion and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Marion was an independent and caring woman, with great knowledge of politics and sports - a lifelong Riders fan and a farm girl at heart.
Marion lived a full life and will be dearly missed. Her nieces and nephews will always treasure the interest she showed in their lives and her care and love for them.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd (816 Spadina Crescent East Saskatoon). Memorial donations may be made to World Vision Canada.
