

Martin passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 90 years of age. He was born on April 30, 1933 on the farm in Salvador, Sask. one of 15 children. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara (2009). Martin was a life time member of the Knights Of Columbus. He was a proud member of Alcoholic Anonymous and extremely proud of his 50 year medallion he received earlier this year. Music was a big part of Martin's life having played in many bands with great friends and family members, including many years alongside his nephew Dennis.
Aside from the obvious, being a Saskatchewan Roughrider fan, he played and loved watching curling as a hobby and enjoyed cheering on the Blue Jays.
Martin is survived by two daughters, Joanne (John) Lafontaine, Delphine (Roy) Ritchie and one son Don (Jayne) Schafer. He had 5 grandchildren, Ian (Carla) Lafontaine, Ryan (Caralee) Lafontaine, Jenna (Will) Danek, Sarah Ritchie, Justin Ritchie and 3 great grandchildren, Zachary Lafontaine, Lucas Lafontaine and Ava Danek. He is also survived by one sister, Kay Schraeder and 3 sister in laws, Elaine Sperle, Agnes Sperle and Eileen Sperle. Martin was deeply devoted to his family, his faith and his many friends and relatives.
His family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the employees at Healthy Life Care for the amazing love and care he received during his time living at this care home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday June 17, 2023 at St. Peter the Apostle Church (1121 Northumberland Avenue, Saskatoon). Lunch will be served at the church hall following the service. Rite of Committal to follow the reception at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Bry Levesque with Mourning Glory Funeral Services.
