

Merla will be dearly missed by her children, Joyce (Clarence) Nickel, Gloria (Rod) Beauchesne, Glenn, Grace, Stan, and Kevin (Carrie), her grandchildren, Josiah, Leah and Owen. She is survived by her brother Arnold Friesen (Helen), sisters; Doris Horn, Elise Clay and Margaret Friesen, in- laws; Lora Mae Epp, Goldie Friesen and Norman Ediger (Doreen), Janice (Mike) Kowbel, and Irma Kroeker, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mom was born on the family farm in Tiefendgrund on September 28, 1936. Mom went to Tiefengrund School and helped out in the busy farming household. She married Edward Kroeker on October 25, 1956 and settled in Rosthern to raise a family. In 1966 Mom and Dad moved the family to Vancouver BC for 2 years before moving back to Saskatchewan. They settled in Martensville where Mom lived for over 40 years. In 2009 Mom moved to Bethany Manor where she enjoyed the company of many cousins and made some new friends. In 2013 health issues required Mom to move to long term care. Family and faith were very important to Mom. She was known for her friendly disposition, and graciousness. Her kindness and graciousness touched many lives. Listening to music was a passion of Mom’s. She especially enjoyed choir music and sing-a-longs.
Merla was predeceased by her husband Edward, son Kenneth, parents, John and Wanda Friesen, siblings, Paul Friesen, Ed Friesen, Louise Ediger, Herb Friesen, Eldon Friesen, Elmer Friesen, Bob Friesen and Bill Friesen, in-laws, Sarah Friesen, Ruth Friesen, Frank Clay,Ted Horn, Paul Epp and Elmer Kroeker.
