On Wednesday, June 28, 2023 the world got a little slower, quieter and heavier when the legend that was Neil left this earth. He lived all the minutes of his life to the fullest and asked the same of all around him.
Left with his memories are his mom, Dolores, whom he loved dearly, his children: Jerame (Haley), Chris (Erin), Megan (Inder) and their mother Shirley, stepdaughter Nadia, his sisters: Sid (Daryl) and Gale (Brad) their children and all his cousins, extended family, friends and his constant companion, Slim. Gone to prepare heaven for him is his hero, his Dad, Les.
Neil loved kids and kids loved Neil. Jars, Chris and Megan were his deepest loves. All kids were instantly caught up in his electricity and his huge heart held them captive. He was fun, he was kind, and he cared for their little souls. His Grandkids gave him immeasurable joy. Marshall & Pippa, Kane & Saria, and Blake were always excited to visit their Grandpa whom they loved so very much and were his most precious treasures.
Neil’s youth was consumed with his love for horses, hockey, baseball, motorcycles, bare feet, his friends, and Eagle Creek.
He was considered a person of interest at Cominco/Agrium for 31 years and was part of an award winning rescue team for many years. Sometimes, a little curly blond stowaway would be hiding in the backseat when he got to work! He was athletic, quick witted, and loved with his whole heart.
These last 5 years Neil suffered with a lot of pain but he rarely complained and dealt with it the best he could. Tough as nails, soft as a horse’s muzzle, cool as shit. May the legend live on in all of us.
The family will be holding a private burial, but a Celebration of Life will be planned in the near future. Announcements of the Celebration will be circulated so Neil’s friends and family may attend.
Arrangements entrusted to Aimé Laventure.
