July 15, 1924 - July 23, 2021
The passing of our beloved Mother and Baba Nellie Chuback (nee Kawchuk) occurred peacefully at Samaritan Place on July 23, eight days after celebrating her 97th birthday.
Nellie will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters and spouses: Darlene (Doug) Rans, Gail (Brian) Scarrow, Carol (Gary) Cameron, Debi (Scott) Walper, Judith (Darrell) Melnychuk, Tami (Dave) Horyza, daughter-in-law Elaine (Clint) Rousell, son-in-law Doug Spark.
Also left to mourn are her 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Stella and brother Joe (Shirley).
Nellie was predeceased by her beloved husband Steven of 74 years in 2017, their firstborn infant daughter Carol, son Christopher, daughter Sylvia Spark, grandson Dean Scarrow and 2 brothers and 8 sisters.
Mom was born and raised on her family homestead near Carpenter, Sk. along with 9 sisters and 3 brothers. In 1942 she married her handsome blonde-haired Steve and together they raised their 1 son and 7 daughters, living in Grasswood, Saskatoon and Grandora. After the children were grown they moved to Wakaw before making their final move back to Saskatoon. Mom was primarily a homemaker whose greatest joy was having her family around her. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and bingo.
Our sincere thanks to Samaritan Place for the care and compassion given to Mom during the short time she was there. Also, to Chris and Joanne for their care while she resided at their carehome in Delisle. A special thanks to her friend and relative Johanna and family, Tony, Hope and Amy for their thoughtfulness towards Mom.
We are comforted in knowing that Mom is now with her Lord and Savior enjoying the wonders of Heaven reunited with Dad and her family. A celebration of Life for Nellie will be held on the long weekend in September. Details to follow.
Arrangements in care of Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Chapel.
