

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Nicola Savino on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Saskatoon, SK. Nick is loved and remembered by his wife of 59 years, Antonietta, their children and grandchildren: Maria (Wayne) Woroniuk – Nicholas; Lena (Al) Brown – Jessica; Margaret (Kelly) McGinn – Johnny and Joseph; Susan (Terry Grieve) – Sarah; Sylvia (Grant) Lesnick – Gina, Ryan, Michael; Rita (Greg Medinski); Frank; Nicki (Doug) Parsons – Sydney and Jack; Danny – Antonietta, Isabella, Nicola, Serafina; great grandson Brodie; brother Jim (Josie) Savino; brother-in-law Piero Lucidi and their families. Nick was predeceased by his parents; sisters Carmelina and Antonietta; sisters-in-law, Irene (Michelle) Gianotta, Phyllis (Frank) Eufemia. Nick was born July 31, 1931 in Pietrapertosa, Italy. In 1956, he immigrated to Canada. He later trained in Moose Jaw to become a journeyman stone mason and his craft can be seen throughout the University of Saskatchewan. Later, together with his brother Jim, formed Rainbow Masonry Construction. After working hard raising nine children, Nick and Antonietta retired to Kelowna in 1992. Following a stroke in 2005, they returned to Saskatoon to be closer to family. Nick loved making wine, socializing with friends, walking outdoors, and cherished Sunday family dinners. The Vigil for Nick will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4 and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, with both services at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 114 Kingsmere Place.
