With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Preston, who departed from us in the early morning of June 10, 2024, at the tender age of 32. He passed away due to complications that came from his radiation therapy. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
Born on July 14, 1991, Preston brought immense joy and happiness to his family and all his friends as he grew up. His random facts of knowledge, self-determination, and his sense of humour touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. Preston had a profound impact on everyone he encountered.
He had a brilliant mind; a passion for learning. He was an honour roll student taking many advanced classes in high school. He was honoured with the John V. Montgomery Bursary in 2009 for all his hard work in school. He also had a passion for collecting memorabilia such as video games, movies, collectibles and NHL. He could answer any question you had for him about NHL topics; any and all. He was determined to be the best at whatever video game he loved; he’d spent hours playing games like Pokémon and Smash Brothers. He went through quite a few controllers! Preston had no children but he had a loving, fluff-baby cat named Derpy.
In addition to his remarkable qualities, Preston will be remembered for his most prominent hobby. That would be his comedic endeavors with his close friends and fellow comedians. His presence enriched our lives beyond measure, and his absence will be keenly felt by all who loved him. While Preston loved his Pokémon battles, he had many, real-life battles with MS, Thyroid issues, Diabetes and leukemia. And he beat them all, even the leukemia went into remission.
There are no words to express all the pain, loss and grief that we all feel from losing Preston far too soon. None of us were done with Preston. He had so much more to give.
His mom (Sharol), his brothers (Myles and Romé), his grandmother (Donna), his aunties and their families (Rosalind, Katherine and Karla) and his entire comedy group family and his many, many friends. Will all be in the countless numbers of people to never forget Preston Fontana.
As we bid farewell to Preston, we take pride in knowing that his passions and wishes will forever guide and inspire us to do more things that enrich others and our lives. His memory will be a blessing, and we will honour him by carrying forward the love and light he brought into our lives.
A memorial service to celebrate Preston's life will be held on June 27, 2024 at Capital Music Group.
Forever in our hearts and minds, Preston will be remembered as a beacon of joy, compassion, and love. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his legacy will forever endure through the lives he touched and the memories he created.
