Reg will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him, especially his wife of 62 years Blanche, his 2 sons Brent (Carmen), Jeff and daughter Sheila (Craig) McMillan, his grandchildren Anna (Graeme) Peters, Jane Wheeler (Jeremy Pynn), Seth Wheeler and great grandchild Henry Peters.
Reg was preceded by his parents Reginald Thomas and Martha Ellen (Affleck) Wheeler, his sister Mary Catherine Davies as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Reg was born in Dodsland, SK on October 29, 1940. Reg, with his parents, later moved back to the family farm in Kinley, SK. After graduation from high school, Reg’s professional career started at the Gardner Dam project as a rodman and later as surveyor. That experience landed him a job with Underwood McLellan & Associates (AECOM).
In 1963, he married Blanche Jennison and raised their 3 children in Saskatoon. Reg always enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends. He spent many enjoyable moments with his grandchildren at their numerous activities. He also enjoyed fishing, quadding, picking berries, and sitting around the campfire at Brightsand Lake (lost to fire 1988).
Reg was told that you retire to something, not from something. So, he decided to return to the hobbies he loved and built another cabin at Little Bear Lake. Reg had a wonderful sense of humor and was always quick with a “Wheeler-ism”. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Reg loved to travel. After he retired, Reg and Blanche went on many bus tours throughout North America. They also enjoyed trips to Australia, New Zealand, Cuba, Panama, Mexico, and Iceland.
Reg's family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital for their kind and excellent care that they gave him. A special thanks to Dr. Tai and the dialysis team.
