Rick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Catherine; daughters Becky, Carly, and Courtney; grandchildren Ty, Jase, Corbin, Nora, and Ramsey; sons-in-law Clint, Evan, and Steve; and sisters Gerry (Wally) and Debbie (Dexter) and many close relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Don in 2002 and Lois in 2014.
Born and raised in Saskatoon, Rick spent nearly 50 years in the taxi industry while building lasting friendships with his fellow drivers along the way. He married Catherine in 1980, and together they raised their three daughters. Rick was a proud dad and grandpa who always took pride in his family.
Rick enjoyed the simple things in life, including lunch with the boys, snowmobiling, fishing, gardening, and cooking. He had a lifelong love of hockey and the outdoors, especially the North, where he enjoyed spending time at the cabin at Weyakwin Lake. Moose hunting was another passion, and he leaves behind countless stories from his adventures. Rick was also a lifelong dog lover, and his dogs and granddogs always held a special place in his life.
Rick will be missed by his family and friends, who will remember him through the many stories, laughs, and memories they shared.
A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held on Wednesday October 21st, 2026 at 1pm at Mourning Glory-Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel 915 Acadia Drive. We warmly invite family, friends, and fellow drivers to join us in honoring him. There will be an opportunity during the service to share a few words, a favorite story, or a laugh. We encourage you to bring your favorite memories of Rick to share, as we celebrate a life well lived.
