Ruth-Anne was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on September 18, 1952, to Michael and Agnes Austin. She attended school in Prince Albert and later moved to Saskatoon, where she attended the University of Saskatchewan. There, she earned degrees in Medical Laboratory Technology and education with great distinction.
Ruth- Anne dedicated much of her professional life to helping others. She worked for 15 years as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in biochemistry and, in later years, served as an addiction’s counselor at Calder Centre and Detox Services until her retirement in 2019. Of all her accomplishments, Ruth-Anne considered her greatest achievement to be her 39 years of continuous sobriety. She often said, “Without my sobriety, I have nothing.” Her strength, honesty, and compassion inspired many whose lives she touched along the way.
In 1985, Ruth-Anne married the love of her life, Larry Stahl. Together they shared many happy years, filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They especially cherished their annual winter trips to the Phoenix area with their beloved dog, Sammy escaping the harsh Canadian winters and creating treasured memories together. Ruth-Anne will be remembered as a kind, generous, and deeply caring person who always placed the needs of others before her own. Her warmth, empathy, and gentle spirit will be dearly missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband Larry Stahl; her siblings: Pat Gellert (Dennis), Shirley Drury (Dale), Joan Pogozelski (Chris), and Rita Austin; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was also a loving stepmother to David Stahl (Julie) and Jaret Stahl. Her memory will be in the hearts of those who loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (18 33 Street East, Saskatoon).
