OBITUARY

Samuel Flores

10 May, 1941 – 28 April, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Mourning Glory Funeral Services

Samuel Flores (83) passed away peacefully on April 28th, surrounded by his family at Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Samuel was born in 1941 in Vilcún, Chile to parents Maria Flores and Manuel Riquelme, and had 8 siblings. He worked as a machinist in Chile and married his wife, Yolanda Flores, on September 11, 1965. They had two children, Nixa and Pamela. In 1973, Samuel and family left Chile due to the Augusto Pinochet dictatorship and spent 4 years in Argentina before coming to Saskatoon in 1977 where they made their home among a growing Chilean community.

Samuel worked at Robin Hood Mill in Saskatoon for 33 years until his retirement. Samuel loved his family more than anything else, and he took great joy in hosting all generations of his extended family, especially his grandchildren. Samuel loved to fix things and work with his hands. He also loved to grow flowers; especially his favourite, the orchid.

Samuel was always known for his love of animals, especially his cat, Guapito, and his budgie, Mio. Samuel was a jokester with a contagious laugh and great sense of humor. The Flores home was always busy with food, friends, family, and laughter, with children and animals all around.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Yolanda, daughters Nixa (Wilson) and Pamela (George), grandchildren Camila (Mark), Carina (Joe), Calina (Braden), and Jason, Dominic, and Tanisha and great grandchildren Monty, Milo, Sophie, Karter, and Chanel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Manuel, and 6 of his siblings.

Samuel’s family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the staff at Parkridge Centre for the loving care they provided to Samuel.

A short graveside service will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery on May 2nd at 2pm and interment will follow.
