Guided by her deep Catholic faith, Sarah later pursued theological studies at St. Anthony’s Seminary in St. Albert.
Sarah made history as the first female layperson to serve as a hospital chaplain in Canada, later continuing her vocation as the Catholic Chaplain at the University of Alberta Hospital. She also served as secretary at St. Angela’s Academy in Prelate, Saskatchewan. As her parents aged, Sarah moved back to Macklin, Saskatchewan to help care for them.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on January 16, 2026, at Holy Spirit Parish (114 Kingsmere Place) in Saskatoon, with lunch to follow. In accordance with her wishes, Sarah will be laid to rest alongside her parents in Macklin, Saskatchewan, with a graveside service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on January 17, 2026 (to be confirmed).
