It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of the Matriarch of the Trost family Shirley Trost (née Turcot) of Saskatoon on July 10, 2025, at the age of 82 and three quarter years while in the loving care of Hospice, with her son Bob, granddaughters Jes and Veronica, great-granddaughter Skylah-Hope and her beloved cat Sam by her side.
Shirley was born on August 20, 1942, in Edmonton, Alberta to loving parents Anne Turcot (Kostuik) and Joseph Turcot. Shirley was the youngest daughter of five children; she enjoyed camping with her family, visiting the coast and going to casinos with her husband Ron as they aged together. She worked many years in food service and other careers such as Modern Press, Greek Spot, the Cave and lastly the Radisson Hotel until she retired to take care of her husband in his last year of life in 2015. Throughout this time and until her health took a major toll on her activities, she enjoyed watching and feeding birds in her yard, taking her grandchildren out to Outlook, spending time with her sister-in-law, and keeping in touch with her sister Jeanette in B.C. She greatly enjoyed her visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends in the last few years while she was not as mobile as she once was. Shirley will be greatly missed by us all.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children Ron (Eileen), Susan, and Bob (Sandra); her oldest sister Jeanette Taylor and family; sisters-in-law Doreen Turcot, Helen Turcot and family, Deanna (Al) and family; grandchildren Stefie (Kevin), Jes (Adam), Carly (Terry), Kaylee (Tony), Veronica (human Sam), and Andrew (Theresa); great-grandchildren Noah, Piper, Skylah-Hope, Kaida, Beni, Kayson, Sophia, and Millie, and extended family and friends.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Ron Sr, 9 years prior on July 2, 2016; her parents Anne and Joseph Turcot; Brothers Rene, Kenneth, and Leonard Turcot; great-granddaughter Aubriella Trost (Jes) in 2014; nephews Trevor Turcot and George Turcot; and her beloved pets Lady and Ginger.
In lieu of flowers the family would ask for donations to be made to Hospice at Glengarda, https://www.stpaulshospital.org/foundation/hospice/about.php
