Stephania Irene Pohorecky (Luchynska) passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the age of 91. Stephania was born in Rohatyn, Ukraine on November 13, 1923. She was an only child and then an orphan. She survived World War II in Europe and immigrated to Canada in the 1950's with her Aunt Irena and Uncle Leo Martynec. She ended up in Winnipeg, where she met and married her husband, Zenon, after a whirlwind romance. She is lovingly remembered by her children Vera, Zoya and Michael (Alannah); her grandchildren Stephen (Mariya), Scott (Stacey), Bruce (Simone), Anne-Marie (Colin), Megan (Royce); and her great-grandchildren Keaton, Adalynn, Sophia, Aden, Raya and Mila. Stephania was a very artistic person who worked with her husband on many murals that graced Vesna Festival and the streets of Saskatoon. She will be remembered as a kind, caring and generous person who was always very much loved and well respected. A Family Graveside Gathering will be held next summer.
