Tan Ly, passed away on July 12, 2018 at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with her family by her side. She was born on March 31, 1923 in China. In Vietnam, she financially provided for the family during the war. Without her money we would not have made it out of Vietnam. She arrived in Canada in 1979, settling in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a devout Buddhist. She was very independent; she would take the bus every Sunday by herself to attend the temple. She knew the city bus route like the palm of her hand. Tan devoted her life to her family, especially her great grandchildren. She was happy to have so many great grandchildren and was grateful to have seen her youngest great grandchild before her passing. In her seventies and eighties she was still able to help care for her great grandchildren; Nicholas, Alexandra, Matthew and Andrew were very fortunate to have lived close to their great grandma and were in her care.
Tan is survived by her son Sinh and daughter-in-law Quy; six grandchildren, Eva and husband Christopher Lai of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Gloria and husband Willis So of Regina, Saskatchewan, Henry and wife Ming Yang of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Helen of Allen, Texas, May of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Christine and husband Joshua Thomsen of Blackfalds, Alberta; nine great grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexandra Lai, Triton and Tayden So, Matthew and Andrew Ly, Lucas and Logan Chan, Noah Thomsen; and other loving relatives and friends.
Tan was predeceased by her husband Cam Ly, her sister Li Jie Fang and her grandson-in-law Ken Chan.
