Virginia Ruth Roberts

Virginia was born and raised in Saskatoon. She attended St. Mary’s School from Grade One through Grade Eight and later graduated from Saskatoon Technical Collegiate. Her education opened the door to a varied and interesting working life. Over the years, Virginia worked for many different employers, including a judge’s office, a jewelry wholesaler, a linen office, several real estate offices, an MLA’s office, and finally the provincial government in Apprenticeship and Trade Certification. She retired in 2006 after eighteen and a half years of dedicated service.

Retirement brought Virginia her next adventure: spending two wonderful years caring for her youngest granddaughter, Ashley. It was a role she embraced and thoroughly enjoyed.

Virginia’s greatest loves in the world were her family. She could not have been prouder of her sons, Brent and Trevor, and the lives they built for themselves. She took immense pride and joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchild and was an amazing, hands-on grandma who cherished every moment she had with them.

Those fortunate enough to share in Virginia’s life will fondly remember her wonderful sense of humour. She had the best little giggle and took such delight in life’s simple pleasures—a great Elvis tune, Sunday supper with family, long telephone chats with her dearest friends, finding a great deal on a new purse, and getting ready for the latest award show. Even at 81, Virginia knew more about the celebrity and entertainment world than just about anyone else in the family! She loved to keep learning and always enjoyed staying up to date on what was happening in the world.

One of Virginia’s greatest gifts was her ability to love unconditionally. Nothing could rattle her or diminish the love she had for the people in her life. She accepted people as they were and loved them wholeheartedly. We are all better people because of the love she shared with each of us.

We are so very sad that you “mosey’d” on so soon, Virginia, but we are eternally grateful for the time we were blessed to have with you. Your love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will remain with us always.

Virginia was predeceased by her mother, Mary Roberts; her father, Robert Roberts; her son, Brent; her sister, Roberta (Bobbie) Fesciuc; and her brother-in-law, Don Fesciuc.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister Regena Viklund; her son, Trevor (Tammy); Grandchildren: Sarah, Jennifer (Luke), Owen (Robin), Paige (Toyin), and Ashley; and Greatgrandchild Erimas.

A small family gathering will be held in September to celebrate Virginia and inter her ashes at the Columbarium.
