

During his early farming years, Walter would go to B.C. during the winter months to work in the logging industry. Walter also went to Winnipeg to train as a welder. He was well known in the area for his welding skills.
In 1968, he married Rose Marie Fendelet and together they raised 3 children on their current homestead.
Walter was an avid sports fan. He played hockey, ball, curled, golfed and fished. His favorite teams were the Toronto Maple Leafs and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also loved playing cards. He would never turn down a game of cribbage, kaiser or durak.
Walter’s 4 grandchildren were very important to him. He enjoyed watching them all participate in their activities and sports.
Walter will be remembered by all those who met him for his entertaining stories and sharp wit. He was always quick to engage in a debate on current events with family and friends.
Walter passed away peacefully on April 3, 2022 at RUH surrounded by his family. He was survived by his loving wife Rose Marie; daughter Shelly (Colin) and their sons Jordan and Riley; son Brad (Melissa) and their daughters Brooke and Taylor; son Kevin. He is also survived by his sisters Nadia Degutis and Virginia (Paul) Nykiforuk, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. His family and friends will cherish his memory forever.
Divine Liturgy will be held at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hafford, SK at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday April 9, 2022
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or St. Peter & Paul Church in Albertown.
