He was predeceased by his brother Kevin, and his dad, Norvel. He will be deeply missed by his children, son Jeff and grandson Joel, daughter Cheri (Jamie), grandchildren Josh and Lilli. Also left to cherish his memory are his mom Merie, siblings Connie, Bonnie (Dan), Dwayne, Leanne (Gaston), Marla (Scott) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and aunt and uncle.
Wayne attended Caswell School and Bedford Road Collegiate. He had many jobs as a labourer. Wayne had a kind and sensitive heart. He loved and cherished his kids and grandkids. They brought him so much joy. He loved to talk about them as they were the light of his life and would even have a little laugh if they got in a little trouble at school. His son Jeff remembers that Wayne was only a call away for babysitting and was always ready and willing to help his kids and grandkids. He loved to laugh with his daughter Cheri. Laugh to the point where it would be hard to talk. Wayne had a great sense of humour and loved to poke fun at people. He could take it as good as he could give it. Those memories will be cherished forever.
Wayne covered much of Saskatoon in his walking shoes. If you have been in Saskatoon long enough, you likely have seen Wayne walking. He had a great love for the outdoors and wildlife. He loved to follow prairie wildlife photographers and shared great shots with family and friends. He loved liver and onions, cheezies, mom’s strawberry-rhubarb pie, ice cream and a chance to reminisce about the good old days over coffee. He loved summer country drives with tunes blasting. Two of his favourite artists John Prine and Canada’s own William Prince.
Wayne will be dearly missed.
You can have this old world and its treasures
The bright lights and the fast moving cars
I am now on that highway to heaven
With a song as I rise through the stars
(This One I Know, William Prince)
A private family memorial will be held to honour Wayne’s life.
Arrangements entrusted to Aimé Laventure.
