She faced the many challenges of diabetes with unwavering strength and resilience. Though her journey was not an easy one, she fought bravely and with determination until the very end. At the age of 61, her final rest comes after 2 years of living without her friend and loving partner Clifford Rowe.
Ann Marie loved life and lived it by her rules. She was a graduate of Bawating High School and the Sault College Early Childhood Education Program. She thrived as a member of the legendary Bandettes Drum and Bugle Corps. Her passion for animals was enriched by her years living at Horse Play Stable on St. Josephs Island where she helped care for 21 horses, 12 dogs, 3 cats and a goat. Caring for children was her true devotion and was a dedicated employee at a number of daycares including Pied Piper, St. Mary’s and Sault College.
Ann Marie made friends wherever she went. She had a quick-witted sense of humour and loved to laugh. With a twinkle in her eye, she often said that she and her friends were “the Belle of the Ball” during their many adventures across the river. She was blessed to have a close-knit group of friends and allies who supported and carried her throughout her long transplant journey.
Ann Marie is predeceased by her partner Cliff Rowe and her parents Frank and Patricia Stopar. She will be greatly missed by her sister Patricia and her brother Frank. She was a loving Aunt to two cherished nephews Adam and Thomas. They were her world. Ann Marie will be remembered by her aunts and uncles, Louis Stopar (Zdenka), Maria Stojnev (late Ivo), late Jozef (late Louise), the late Alfonz Stopar and the Dupuis families. Sister-in-law of Fred Rowe (Mary-Jane) and Sam Rowe (Johanna), Sandi Williams (Derek). Aunt of Wendy, Stephanie, Jennifer and Megan.
