It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Reah (Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma) at the age of 87.
Predeceased by her husband Ted, of 62 years. Proud mother of Rosanne (Robert), the late Susan (Roger) and son Bill (Peggy). Cherished grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also predeceased by her parents, Irven and Beatrice Willsie. Predeceased by her siblings, Elvin (late Helen), Dorothy (late George), Almon (late Joan), Bereniece (late Stu), Ross, Fern (late Don), Edna (Dyce). She leaves behind her sister, Rose (late Norm).
Mom was born in a country farm-house close to Creditville, Ontario in the winter of 1939. Reah was an example of why some say “home” is a person. She loved her family wholeheartedly, gave graciously, and was a focal point of endless joy, love, and laughter. Whether it was singing “Country Roads”, baking fresh elderberry pie, or tending her gardens with care, she was a shining light to everyone that loved and had the pleasure of knowing her.
Reah lived a life of deep devotion, always prioritizing her loved ones and dedicating herself to being the warm centre of our family and community in many ways. She especially enjoyed singing with her friends in the “Sweet Adelines” and harmonizing in the “Relative Harmony” quartet, she regularly performed and stayed involved with the Northland Barbershop Chorus and Musical Comedy Guild. Through time she had many different titles including Bell Operator, Brown Owl for the Girl Guides of Canada, Executive of I.O.D.E, TeleCare Operator for Crisis Mental Health Services, and Trustee for Emmanuel United Church.
Our family wishes to thank all the staff at Van Daele, a tremendous amount of care and compassion was given daily. This gave our family peace of mind, our loved one was always well taken care of.
