The head of our family slipped quietly and quickly away with great dignity.
He leaves behind his loving wife Audrey Elk of 55 years. Loving dad of Jason Elk (Crystal), Amy Misner (Chris), and Aaron Elk (Austin). Predeceased by his parents Anna and Karl Elk and his 4 siblings. He will be sorely missed by his grandchildren Charlotte, Arlet, Ava, Julia, Emily, and Alex. Son-in-law of the late Kenneth and late Lula Ledyit. Brother-in-law of MaryLou (Jim), Debbie (Kevin) and predeceased by Chuck, Tom, Manley, and Chris. He will be reunited with his best friend of over 60 years, Eddie Belkosky. He will be deeply missed by Madeleine Belkosky; you are more than friends, you are family. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Arlet came to Canada when he was 5 and spent his younger years with his family on Cathcart Street. He attended Sault Tech High School. He worked at Algoma Steel for 37 years. You could often find him puttering in the garage; arranging and rearranging, until he got it right. Also he enjoyed bowling, long walks, coffee time with his friends Barb and Edger, Joann and Carmen, Madaliene and Eddie, and many others. Most of all he enjoyed family gatherings.
Family and friends are invited to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522) on Saturday, November 29, 2025, between 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Helen Smith officiating.
The family would like to thank the Ontario at Home staff, the numerous doctors, nurses, paramedics and hospital staff for their exceptional kindness and sympathetic care that they provided to this special man. Memorial contribution (payable by cheque or online) to Alzheimer Society or Kidney Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
Arlet often said "never say goodbye, just say until we meet again."
So, dad, until we meet again.
