ARMSTRONG, Caroline Shirley (nee Ouellette) – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Caroline Armstrong, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend whose kindness and quiet strength touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Caroline dedicated her life to caring for others, both in her decades-long career as a Registered Labour and Delivery Nurse and in the way she treated everyone around her – with gentleness, patience and compassion. She was the kind of person who could comfort you with just her presence, and she offered her heart freely to those in need. And, of course, like any good nurse, she had a stubborn streak – because sometimes it takes a little stubbornness to make sure everyone gets the best care possible.
Even as she faced the long and difficult journey of Parkinson’s, Caroline remained the kind, selfless soul she always had been. Her strength was quiet but profound, and her resilience inspired all who loved her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, kindness and unwavering strength.
Caroline is reunited with her parents Henry and Ina Ouellette and her brother Alan. She is lovingly remembered by her husband and friend Sonnie Armstrong, son Martin Armstrong (Marlo) and daughter Kelly Armstrong (Luke). She leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Gracie Jack, as well as her loved bonus grandchildren, Jasmine Newman (Nick and Travis) and Lucas Newman (Abbie), and beloved god-children Kyle and Karleigh Ouellette. Caroline will be deeply missed by her siblings Sharon Boissoneault (Phil) and Paul Ouellette (Lisa), and her many nieces and nephews. She will forever hold a special place in the heart of her dearest friend, Bonnie Maguire (Danny). She will be fondly remembered by her treasured coworkers from Labour and Delivery, SAC and Dr. Gould’s office.
Saying goodbye to someone you love as deeply as her is one of the hardest things life asks of us. It leaves a weight in our hearts that words can’t quite capture. The loss feels sudden and overwhelming, but even in that pain, we hold on tightly to her memory – the love that she shared so freely, and the quiet lessons she taught us simply by being herself.
Our deepest gratitude goes to the incredible team at Pathways for their compassionate care and support. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Friends and family are invited to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522) on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 12 pm to 3 pm.
