Cheryl Marie Chapman was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Cheryl will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Cheryl Marie was born on April 12, 1971 at St. Joseph Hospital in Sudbury, Ontario. She was the daughter of Pearl and Jean Guy. Cheryl Marie grew up in Sudbury, Elliott Lake, Balmertown, Timmins, Havilland Bay and Batchawana Bay.
Cheryl was raised with two siblings. She had one older brother, Guy and a younger brother Shaun. Cheryl was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young girl, Cheryl had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. Cheryl took part in baseball, and liked skating as a child. However, to Cheryl, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends.
A typical teenager, Cheryl had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Mount St. Joseph; She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
Cheryl enjoyed her college year, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Cheryl was able to manage the balancing act. Cheryl attended Sault College, then went to Lake State University for a semester taking police foundations.
Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Cheryl enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. While growing up, her best friends were her cousins Rachel, Stephanie and Candy Agawa.
Cheryl worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Cheryl was blessed with three children, two daughters, Allison and Emma, and one son Gordie.
Fortunately, Cheryl enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Cheryl Marie worked diligently and did her best to succeed; her primary occupation was mother and selling firewood. She was employed when in high school during the summer as a Junior Ranger and also at Burger King. In later years she worked for Rolly's Restaurant and the Windsurfer Restaurant as a waitress, then started her own firewood business in 2010.
Cheryl enjoyed her leisure time by going to town with her children shopping. Her favorite was taking care of her purebred dachshund dogs, Jinx, Tanner and Ozzie. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Cheryl found pleasure in the Batchawana Winter Carnival playing broom ball, skating, family curling and especially the three legged snowshoe race. She enjoyed snowmobiling, ice fishing and camping.
Cheryl enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included going to Niagara Falls, and camping.
Cheryl was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was Casey, a Lab dog. They were best friends for 12 years. Her family was rounded out by her other dogs, Thunder, Molly, and pets.
