ELLIOTT, Christopher Allan "Chris" - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Allan Elliott on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Chris was the beloved husband and partner of Cathy for 49 years. Devoted and loving father to Sam (Kristen) and Ben (Michelle), and the proudest Grandad to Campbell. Steadfast brother-in-law to Patty Babcock (Mike), Dave Sawer Jr. (Darlene), and the late Judy Jolie. Loving uncle to Jenny Low (Zach), Michael Babcock (Pam), Katie Wenham (Joel), Chris Sawer (Shannon), and Nathan Sawer (Alyx). Always loved by his family in Guelph: Kim & Art Stagg, Brandon Stagg (Melody), Kelly & Peter Lambe, Jesse Brown (Nick), John Lambe (Lindsay), and Barry & Cheryl Thornton.
Fondly remembered by Anthony Silvano (Riley). Deeply missed by his beautiful golden retriever, Maggie.
Predeceased by his parents Frank and Enid, and brother Craig. Chris missed his parents and brother immensely, and we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with them.
Chris dedicated more than 25 years to teaching and coaching, where his kindness, patience, and love of learning left a lasting impact on his students and their families. Outside the classroom, he was happiest on the curling rink, golf course, or watching the Toronto Blue Jays with his family, enjoying the camaraderie and friendships those games brought him.
His love of sports was surpassed only by his love of watching both his sons compete, as he sat through every baseball, basketball, and hockey practice intently. The countless hours he devoted to researching equipment, developing skills, and driving to and from every rink, field, and court throughout Ontario and Michigan stand as a testament to his unwavering support of his sons’ athletic endeavors.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A come-and-go service to celebrate Chris’ life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 (96 Great Northern Road) on Monday September 15, 2025, from 5:00-8:00pm. Parking and entrance at the rear of the building.
Cremation has taken place, and interment at St. Luke's Columbarium will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations (payable by cheque or online) to either the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or KidSport Sault Ste. Marie. Arrangement entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522). Please visit www.arthurfuneralhome.com obituaries section to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all those that were involved in Chris’ recent care (Dr. Spadafora, his primary cancer nurse Louise, the nurses in the chemo suite, Dr. Pearce, Dr. Castellani, Dr. McLean, NP Julie Bradford, Dr. Glibota and her team, the incredible staff at Sault Area Hospital, and ParaMed). A very special thanks to the Medicine Shoppe (Clayton Maltby and his wonderful staff) for their constant support and guidance.
“A limb has fallen from our family tree,
That says, “Please, do not grieve for me.”
Remember the best times, the laughs, the song,
The good life I lived while I was strong.”
We love you - now and forever.
