Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the world suddenly got a little quieter and a lot less funny. With great sadness, and even greater gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of Conrad Alex Bouffard, 77, who left us far too soon while in his happy place under the Florida sun.
He leaves behind the love of his life and wife, Janet Bouffard, with whom he shared laughter, adventures, and a beautiful blended family. Proud father of Carmen McLeod (Andrew), David Bouffard (Marta), and Karen Bouffard (Robert). Cherished step-father of Erin MacKay (Jordy) and Megan Becker (Rob). Treasured grandfather of Liam and Gwen McLeod, and Kathryn Courville, who brought him immense joy. Forever the beloved son of the late Omer and Bertha Bouffard (née Roy), and devoted son-in-law of Margarette and the late Leonard Beilhartz. Dear brother of Robert Bouffard (Sheila) and the late Lisette Leblanc (late Fred). Cherished uncle to his many nieces and nephews, and proud great-uncle to the next wave of little characters already carrying on the family mischief. Brother-in-law of Lynn McMillan, Patti Holder (Tom) and Judy Cruise (Joe). He also leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends who will be telling his stories for generations.
Connie lived with the easy charm of a guy who could make strangers laugh in the grocery line and have them walking away feeling like old friends. His comedic timing was a natural gift that he shared generously.
He loved cheering from the sidelines of his grandchildren, nieces’, nephews’ and great nephew’s sporting events, hollering support with the passion of a professional coach and a heart full of pride. Every one of them knew they had a fan for life.
Six Lakes Country Club in Florida was his winter playground, a place where the skies were sunny, the drinks were cold, and the golf course remained absolutely terrified of him. He earned not one, but four hole-in-ones in his lifetime, though nothing topped his legendary hot streak last March when he dropped three in just 13 days. The countless hours he put in “at the office” paid off. He would say it was all skill, his golf buddies would say it was definitely luck. The truth, like most things with him, was probably somewhere in the middle and delivered with a laugh. When he wasn’t sinking golf balls in Florida, he was in Sault Ste. Marie saving the world from his basement armed with nothing but a PlayStation controller.
Even in sorrow, we can’t help but smile when we think of him. He wouldn’t want it any other way. Connie knew how to squeeze the best out of life. Swing hard, laugh loudly, cheer proudly, and love the heck out of your people. That’s the legacy he leaves us.
May every golf ball he ever hits from here on out find the cup. We’ll be toasting him from the 19th hole.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Connie’s life on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E., 705-759-2522). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Bouffard family.
