Cyril     Was a good friend. My family and I enjoyed many good times together helping each other .  Even though we were far these last few years I often thought and prayed for him. Dave Stewart and family.

We are never ready to lose a parent, even though we know it's inevitable.  I will miss him most at our family gatherings, but I'd like to share some thoughts that have helped me cope with this difficult new reality of a world without Dad.
He's about to see his Dad for the first time in 62 years. He's about to see his Mom for the first time in 29 years. His brother Bobby is there, and they're sliding up to a kitchen table to see how many blueberry pies they can eat in one sitting. Uncle Lauriat is there and they'll re-tell countless moose hunting stories about half sunk canoes and such.  Uncle Larry is there telling a joke and filling the room with that laugh. Auntie Brenda and Auntie Shirley are there putting something in the oven because it's time for a family dinner. And Granny and Grandpa are there. To be honest, Grandpa is sleeping in his chair but not before they catch up and have a few giggles.  And Granny, well, Granny's grabbing a deck of cards. As much as we loved him here, we've just handed him over to others who love him just as much.  So you see, he's in good hands. 
I love you Dad

To say dad was an outdoor enthusiast is an understatement. Dad worked long hours his whole life and was committed to his family. When he was done his work, he took his family to the bush. We spent hours fishing, camping and hunting.
For winter fun we cut fire wood, every weekend. In the early years we snowshoed in pulling toboggans. We would usually cut 10 trees a day, bucked and split, before we would call it a day. There was always a fire to thaw out picnic sandwiches and hot chocolate.
In the spring we made our way back into the bush and started hauling truck loads of wood home. We did this for years and when I was grown and had a family of my own the fun continued. Eventually we got a snow machine and the kids can attest to a whole new level of giggles, especially when meme was driving.
Anyone that knew Dad, knew that he was tough, and a little rough around the edges. But those same people also knew he had a soft side. He always made sure his family had the support they needed to be successful. He was always there to comfort and listen, but he also believed in tough love. He made sure his girls were equipped to be strong, independent individuals. Mom was on the front lines raising us but we knew dad’s guiding hand was always close. There was no one he wouldn’t help. I remember the snow storm of 1996. I think Dad was the last guy off the road that night. He made sure everyone was safe at home and answered countless cries for help before he made his own way home.
I’ve always been neighbours with Mom and Dad my entire adult life. Dad was a big part of my life. I spent hours and days shadowing him in the bush, in the garage, on every project he was working on. I’m not sure how much help I was but I sure learnt a lot from him. I offer him my thanks for giving me the skills and knowledge that has led me to my career today.
Dad, you lived your best life. You were successful in your career, in raising a family and being the best Pepe. Rest easy now Dad, you deserve it.

Dad, as a child, you always picked me up when I stumbled. When I was 4, you taught to play cards in order to distract me from what was to come. When I was upset, you held me until I was ready to carry on. As an adult, you allowed me to stumble when a lesson needed to be learned. But you were always there to pick me up afterwards. During my most difficult times, you sat quietly and listened until I was ready to move forward again. Now that you're gone, I know that you will continue to pick me up when I stumble. There are more difficult times to come. I know that you will walk with me and comfort me until I am ready to forward on my own again. Love and miss you always. Until we see each other again.

I love you for always. You have been the strength and Rock of our family for both myself and the girls.  I have always admired the way you reach out to help anyone who needed help. You have left a huge hole in our family.  You will always be remembered for the backbone of the family. RIP  until we meet again.

Thinking of everyone and sending deepest condolences. I remember the time I locked myself out of my house on the way to work at HS school one morning. I hitched a ride with another teacher and made it to school. I was telling Betty what happened and she quickly called Cyril. He came and helped me “break into” my house via the laundry room window. This is how I will remember him….always happy to help. 🌺
