

MERLING, David Anthony - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Anthony Merling, with his family by his side at Health Sciences North in Sudbury on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 10:30 am at the age of 62.
Beloved husband “jerk-face” of Julie Addison. Cherished son of George Merling and the late Betty Ann Merling. Adored son-in-law to Lory and Less Breathat, and Randy and Raye Addison. Predeceased by his grandparents, Frank and Maria Merling, and the late Ed and Ada Grexton. Loved brother of Ted (Annette), the late Kevin, James (Theresa), and the late Jason (Jason). Unforgettable brother-in-law of Tammy Barnes (Cory) and Jason Addison. Forever cherished and loved Dad of Grant (Patricia), Sarina, Katie (Hank), and Tanner-Jaye (Kiaya). Grandpa, aka “family jokester” of his handsome grandsons Damian and Dawson and his beautiful granddaughters Arianna, Trinity, Lilly, and Kira. Dave's grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Special nephew to Nancy Grexton, John Merling (Donelda), Bonnie Burke (Bob), late Duane Grexton and the late Jack. Dave will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dave was adored by his cousins and had viewed them as siblings over the years. Special lifelong family and friend of the Marshall gang, who will miss him dearly. Dave will be fondly remembered by his Ojibway park friends who were like family to him, especially his camp Mom, Linda Roy. Dave will be missed by his furry companion, Zoey and the late Macey.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Ojibway Park (2628 Highway 17B East, Garden River) on Saturday, July 25, 2026, between 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Memorial contributions to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society (payable by cheque or online) would be greatly appreciated. A very special thank you to our friends who have been so supportive during this very difficult time.
