He was a devoted and loving husband to Marie (Dragicevic) for over 58 years. David was a proud and caring father to Adam and Nicole (Wallace).
He was the 3rd son born to John and Mary (Melanchuk) Smith on April 3, 1944. He leaves his siblings, Lucille Clarke (late Steve), Joan Blanchette (late Ernie Sr.), late Richard Smith (Marie), late Robert Smith (Lucille), Linda Sheehan (late Bob), and Rosemarie Williamson (late Dale).
David’s much loved in-laws were Ante and Dora (Callegari) Dragicevic, Robert and Barbara Dragicevic, and Angela and David Campbell.
A very special Godfather to “da nieces” Denise Moss and Amy Sonnenburg.
He was a lifelong local entrepreneur. Whether you are aware of it or not, he did his part building this city one load of gravel at a time since he was 15. He was either driving the material or digging it up till he was 75.
Most often heard was “I’ve got more miles driving in reverse than you have going forward!”
He was quick with an idea and quicker to smile and help if you had one. D was always eager to work with you to help however he could.
A devoted husband, father, brother, and special “Punkle” to others. Family always came first unless it was for the last slice of meatloaf, then all bets were off!
Thank you to the paramedics and hospital staff for their speedy, professional, and compassionate care of David.
In keeping with D’s wishes, burial is at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and will be a family affair.
