With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved, Debbie Humes, whose generous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in her 60th year.
Born on December 27 in Sault Ste Marie, Debbie was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, co-worker and friend.
Debbie was a fierce, strong, independent woman who demonstrated throughout her life how passion, pride and dedication could make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Kind, caring and hardworking, she devoted 21 years to Community Living Algoma where she supported individuals and families with compassion, respect and unwavering commitment. Her positive impact she made will be remembered by those she served and the colleagues who had the privilege working alongside her. She brought warmth, laughter and encouragement where ever she went inspiring those around her.
Debbie will be remembered as the quick witted, sassy and fun loving waitress at Misty's Fifties, where she cherished the conversations and lasting friendships she built with her co-workers and was truly a favorite among patrons. She loved great music, attended many concerts, and she had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome and valued.
Debbie was a "keep it real" kind of person - honest, genuine, and unapologetically herself. Beneath her strong and spirited nature was a heart overflowing with love, especially for her children and grandchildren, who were the greatest joys of her life. She took immense pride in watching them grow. Debbie is lovingly remembered by her brother, David (Jacky), her sons Eric (Erin) and Brett, and her grandchildren, Bryce, Braelee, Emerie and Addison. She was preceded in death by her mother Joyce, father Frank, and is now reunited with her first born son Stefen, whom she carried in her heart always.
Debbie will be remembered as the fun loving aunt to David (Varsha), Jessica (Mitch), Chris, Kurtis, Tysen and Mellisa, and a great-aunt to Liam and Sofie. She treasured the time she spent with them sharing and making memories.
Debbie will forever continue to live on in our hearts and in the hearts, her lightwork has helped throughout her journey on this earth. Her light, love and legacy will continue to shine through all those she inspired and assisted while here.
A special thank you and heartfelt admiration for Debbies longtime friends, Tamara and Tara whose unwavering love, loyalty and support never faltered. Thank you for standing beside her every chapter and remaining with her right until the end. Your friendship was a true gift and your presence brought comfort, strength and dignity during her final journey. You will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
