PUNCH, Elizabeth Anne “Betty”- With love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Elizabeth Anne Punch, affectionately known as Betty, who passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at the Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, at the age of 82.
Born in New Brunswick and later making Sault Ste. Marie her home, Betty was known for her strength, independence, determination, and deep devotion to her family. Despite facing many health challenges throughout her life, she met them with courage and resilience, always determined to live life on her own terms.
Betty found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved tending to her garden, spending time fishing, playing bingo, visiting the casino, and caring for her beloved pets. She also cherished the years spent working alongside her family at the pizzeria in Echo Bay, where she enjoyed serving customers and creating lasting memories with those she loved.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children, Charlene Cameron, Darrell Payette, and Daniel and Tema Payette; her grandchildren, Heather Cameron (boyfriend Owen), Angela Payette, Andy Payette, Jason and his daughters Kathryn and Gabby. Bradley and Gabrielle Divljakovic, and Curtis Payette; her great-grandchildren and extended family; as well as many dear friends whose lives she touched over the years. She was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela, and her son, Jimmy Payette.
Family was the center of Betty’s world. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Her strength, sense of humor, and loving spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff at Sault Area Hospital for the compassionate care they provided during Betty’s final days.
As per Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, June, 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 58 Pawating Place for a come and go celebration of Betty’s life. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
Betty’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy of strength, perseverance, and love will never be forgotten.
Forever loved, forever remembered.
