

SYRETTE, Elizabeth “Betty” - On Wednesday, July 24, 2013 Elizabeth “Betty” Syrette of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario passed away in the Van Daele Manor Extended Care Facility following a lengthy illness. She was 63 years old at the time of her passing. Betty was born on May 25, 1950 in Birch River, Manitoba, the second child of Ruth and Walter Procychyn. She was raised in Mafeking, Manitoba where she attended elementary school, receiving her high school education in Birch River. After school she moved to Brandon, Manitoba where she met and married her first husband, Dennis King. After her husband’s death, she moved to Erwood, Sask. to live with her mother and grandmother, Irene Waskowich. Over the years Betty lived in Erwood, Hudson Bay, Prince Albert, Sask. and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario where she spent the last 22 years of her life. She met and married her second husband Larry Syrette, while working in Prince Albert. In 1988 they had their only child, a beautiful daughter Carol who was the joy of Betty’s life. They moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in 1991 to be close to Larry’s family. Betty became sick and was admitted to the Van Daele Manor, where she spent the last 9 years of her life. While at the Van Daele Manor, Betty made many friends and enjoyed gardening, and playing bingo. Betty was pre-deceased by her mother, Ruth Procychyn in 1979, her father Walter Procychyn in 2005, her infant brother Melvin Procychyn in 1949, and her first husband Dennis King in 1979. Betty is survived by her one daughter Carol Syrette of Medicine Hat, Alberta, her three brothers: Fred Procychyn of Edmonton, Alberta, David (Tracy) Procychyn of Rocky Rapids, Alberta, Verne (Jean) Procychyn of Erwood, Saskatchewan and nieces and nephews: Travis, Kayla Procychyn and Brendon (Janelle) Tarrant. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 7th, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Erwood Cemetery in Erwood, Saskatchewan.
