

GREEN, George Walter– Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, May 27, 2013 surrounded by his family - Peggy (Chisholm) wife of 58 years, daughter Susie McCarty (Kevin), granddaughters, Shannon (fiancée Adam Sinclair), Sarah and Katie. George was the Director of the Forest Pest Management Institute, Canadian Forestry Service and an integral member of many committees, organizations and social circles both in the Sault and in Peterborough where he grew up and continued to spend summers at the cottage. He served as President of the Canadian Ski Association, on the Board of Algoma University, trustee of the United Way and was a founding member of the Searchmont Ski Runners. He was an avid skier and golfer and his patience, kind heart, humour and wisdom will be greatly missed and forever cherished by all who knew him. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm and Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm . Memorial Service in the chapel at 3 pm. Rev. Alan Wotherspoon officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
