Dear brother of the late Allen Rahn (late Doreen). Son-in-law of the late Guy & Annie Rains. Brother-in-law of the late Byron Rains (late Dorry). Gerry will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Gerry moved to St Joseph Island as a teenager with his buddy, Ray Gibb. While boarding with the Gibb family, he met the Love of his life, Connie Rains. They married and moved to the Soo where they raised their children, Ed and Jill. Gerry spent the majority of his working life at Johnson Brothers/Superior Dodge Chrysler.
Week days were in the city but weekends were spent on St. Joe's with Connie’s parents, Guy and Annie, at Sunnyside Farm on Sailors Encampment. In their retirement, they built their dream house next door to the family farm. He integrated into the community where he made friends and memories, spending 42 years volunteering with the Lions Club. He always considered St. Joseph Island his home.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Township of St. Joseph PSW Outreach Program for their care and compassion. A special thank you to nurse Amy at Bayshore and the staff at Matthews Memorial Hospital.
