Jaan Suurna

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the unexpected passing of Jaan at the age of 75 surrounded by his family. Cherished son of the late Aleksander and Senta Suurna. Brother of Silvi (Dick), Juri (Sandra), Lauri (Lori) and the late Aari. Long-time loving companion of Brenda Leclair. He also leaves behind his nieces Riley, Kristy and Alisson and his nephews Jason, Brooke, Marc and Brenton.

Jaan will be fondly remembered for his passionate support of the Soo Greyhounds and attending various World Junior events. He was an avid golfer and bowler, organizing 29 Anruus Golf Tournaments. Jaan enjoyed family time and getting together with his friends regularly. Jaan was naturally gifted with exceptional organizational skills and enjoyed a long career at Algoma Steel.

The family would like to extend a special thank you the entire staff at the Sault Area Hospital, in particular the ICU staff for their compassionate care.

As per Jaan's wishes, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions (made payable by cheque or online) to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
