

OSTROSKI, John (Jack) – Died peacefully in his 80th year surrounded by his wife of 58 years, Gayle; his children Mari Jayne Heidt (Brian), Betty Anne Torrance (Rod), Jack (Lonnie), Bonnie (late Kenneth McLuckie), Sherri Zorzit (Jim) and Patti Buck (Darryl) and was predeceased by his twin sons Ronald & Donald and son Richard. Jack was Papa to his grandchildren Sandi (Andre), Jenifer (Tom), Matthew (Jennifer), Greg (Tonya), Kendra (Shawn), Kerri, Ryan, Eric, Colin, Jenna (Zack), Mark, Luke (Gabby), Bradley, Jonathon, Terry and Kyle and his three great grandchildren A.J., Stephanie and Jackson. He was the eldest son of the late Steve Ostroski and Mary Chomyshin and brother to the late Stan (Daphnee), late Victor (Allison), late Victoria, late Leonard (Marty) (late Gloria), Virginia, late Anastasia, late Patricia, late William, Candace (Herb), Leslie (Janice), Ted (Rose), Shirley (John) and Betty ( Bob). Brother-in-law to Betty Turnbull (Neil) and Larry Bentley (Dolores). Jack is survived by countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Jack was passionate about every cause he became involved in and was a tireless labour leader, community activist, NDP supporter and was a proud Steelworker. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 9 pm. Funeral Mass from Precious Blood Cathedral on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 10 am. Rev. Hamish Currie officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Group Health Centre Trust Fund would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to extend thanks to the many doctors and nurses and staff at the Group Health Centre and Sault Area Hospital who cared for Jack. Special thanks to Maureen Tremblay in the I.C.U.
