Jean I remember last talking to you in Zellars Dept Store in the Mall and before
that at the hair dressers'  i always ask about Patsy as you referred to her.  You
always told me she was doing good and you would say hi to Patsy for me.

My sympathies Patsy from your old friend Norma jean Essex (Galbraith).  We 
used to work at Sentry together and go lots of places in that little blue car you
had.


Dear Grandma -         July 7th, 2010
 Please know that I write this note with tears in my eyes.  I just became a Grandma myself, a mere week before you God called you home.  I will be away helping Max’s mommy and Daddy, Jessica and Erik.  I am sorry I won’t be there – 
Please, Know this~ you taught me how to knit – you taught me how to make vinaigrette, the “Italian” way, you taught me the proper use of bleach (on everything).  You weren’t too mad at me when you sat on the side of the bathtub, your big toe wedged in the toilet, because I dropped a gallon of mustard on it, and broke your toe.  When I told you of my boyfriend, ~Steve ~ now my husband of 18 years, while sipping coffee together in the mall – you told me to snatch him up…. I did.  You made perfect crème de menthe sundaes, you taught me that bright burgundy nail polish was the best you knew how to get a plain, little budgie how to say words.  You urged me to do things – that I still haven’t even told my Mom that you told me to do.  You were very careful to never urge me to do more than I could handle, yet always told me to do what my heart said was right.  

I wish I was there when you took your last breath ~ but am so grateful, that God was gracious enough to dim your “light” slowly, as not to make your final good bye so hard.  I know that eh last times we talked~ you heard me ~ that you knew that my good – bye was to a women who worked hard – took many risks,  and made very hard decisions in your life.  You loved freely, and truly cared.

 You were one tough cookie – You shared your knowledge.  I will try to use it well.  And hopefully – one day – my grandchild will say – THAT’s my Grandma! , With pride.
 I remember when you knew the who the what the when of every person on the planet – and all of the life circumstances of every family member, every friend.
P.S. I knit a very neat sweater 2 years ago – you would have been proud of it  I still make homemade sauce and pizelles  I am married to a great man -  I have a wonderful Kid – just like you would have raised.  
I will always keep the secrets from my mom 
I will never buy mustard in a gallon
I will always use bleach on everything
I remember you going camping with us (p.j. story inserted here)
I will hold Max tight, the day of your funeral, and I will cry – tears of joy – and tears of sorrow at the same moment..
