ARMSTRONG, Joan - It is with immense grief that we announce the passing of Joan Armstrong (nee Healey), on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, with family by her side, surrounding her with the love that she once poured out to them.
Loving soulmate to the late Stan Armstrong. Mom and dad had 63 wonderful years together before he passed in 2023. Left behind to grieve are daughters, Linda Sirie (Larry) and Christine Polutanovich (Nick) and our sister, Allison Kitson in heaven (Tom). Devoted grandma to Mitchell Sirie (Anamika), Samantha Porte (Dan), Justin Polutanovich, Daniel Sirie, Steven Porte, Jenna Polutanovich, and bonus grandma to Chandu. Special GG to Madison and Jackson.
Joan was the loving daughter of the late Irene and late Robert Healey and is survived by brothers David (Gerry) and Malcolm (Shirley), and the late Victor (Eleanor). Special forever sister-in-law to Jackie Healey and the late Janice Johnston. Much loved sister-in-law of Bob Armstrong (Shirley), Eldon Armstrong (Lauris), Lois Burton (Paul), Dorothy Olar (Alec) and families. Adored aunt and cousin to many.
Joan had a soul for giving back to others, she was a natural caregiver and had a fierce passion for making sure people were treated with love and fairness. Joan did a lot for the people she loved, she was a seamstress for Trixie Hardy the dance studio her daughters danced at, she was the babysitter for all 6 of her grandkids, she was a tour director of the sunshine travel club, and she spent countless hours with John Wesley making meat pies, and organizing tea and bizarres. Joan was a one of a kind special woman. Those who knew her loved her.
The last few years have been a journey through the grief of losing our dad, and then learning to live with Alzheimers/Dementia for mom along with diabetic issues. We have met the kindest and loveliest people - including the Nurses from Bayshore - Cathy and Robin and Brandy, Shawna from the Alzheimer's Society - and were blessed with 3 angel caregivers Nancy Madsen, Rae Young and Kelly Janes.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522) on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. Memorial service to follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, or donations, Joan and her family would love if you would do a kind deed or take the time to say something nice to someone, in her memory. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Armstrong family.
