In her 90th year, Joan passed peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Predeceased by her beloved husband David, mother and father Elizabeth and William Lewis, as well as her sister, Jean Casola (nee Lewis). Remembered and loved by her siblings, David Lewis (Cheryle Wrona) and Cathy Lewis (Linda Folz). Cherished aunt of Jimmy Jr. Casola (Terri), late Frank Casola (Ann Marie), Kenny Casola (Karen), Jane Buonomo (Gino), late Margaret Bumphrey (late Mike) and Mary Casola (Brent Swift). Daughter-in-law of the late Georgina and Louis Boissineau and sister-in-law of Margaret Dimma (late Birley Dimma). Joan was loved by many great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Loyal friend of Iris Chalmers, late Linda Johns, Mary Ellen Johns and Linda Wigmore.
Joan was a long time member of The Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 25) and Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Order of the Royal Purple. Joan also belonged to the United Baptist Church.
Joan’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at The Sault Area Hospital as well as A.R.C.H. for their care and compassion.
As per Joan's request there will be no formal funeral service at this time. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
