Poem St. Jude
When troubles weigh us down,
And hope is hard to find,
St. Jude, we turn to you,
With a hopeful heart and mind.
You help when all seems lost,
A friend in our despair,
Your gentle hand, a comfort,
An answer to our prayer.
One Word:
---
Francois (Son) → STEADY
No matter what was going on in life, Dad was always there. There to help, there to care, there to support, and there to love. His quiet personality and calm presence always brought comfort to those around him. Even near the end, when he spoke very little, simply having him with us at family gatherings made everything feel complete. I’ll always remember how animals were instantly drawn to him, almost like they could sense his gentle nature. Pets seemed to gravitate toward him like a magnet, always wanting to sit beside him or be close to him.
---
Marlene (Daughter) → Smile
If you knew my dad, you knew that his face would completely transform the moment someone he loved walked into the room. Whether it was coming home from school, coming home from work, or driving over as an adult, I knew that the second I walked through that door, his face would light up and smile. That smile was a promise. It told me I was safe. I was loved and that he was genuinely happy to see me no matter how long I had been away or how small the occasion. He taught me that love isn’t just about big gestures. It’s about that warm, consistent presence. He was the kind of man who found his greatest joy in the simplest quiet moments of family life.
---
Mike (Son) → Jack of All Trades
Dad was a man of many talents and was a mechanic by trade, but in personal life he was a welder, a woodworker, a gardener, a negotiator, and a masterful storyteller. He lived by the philosophy that if you worked hard and treated people right, and with a little luck from God, you can have a great life. I remember him most in the garage, surrounded by his tools he had collected over a lifetime. He never met a piece of junk he couldn’t repurpose. He taught me that there was value in patience and that the best results came from taking the time to do it right, and that self-reliance was one of the greatest gifts he could pass on to us.
---
Patrick (Son) → Faith
My Dad was a man of deep faith. Every Sunday, without fail, he was in his pew — not out of habit or obligation, but because he truly believed. His faith wasn’t something he just spoke about; it was something he lived. And watching him, I learned what it looks like to trust in something greater than yourself. He never pressured me or preached at me (other than the
odd Dairy Queen run after church) — he simply led by example. And because of him, I believe. That is one of the greatest gifts he ever gave me — and it’s one I’ll carry for the rest of my life.
---
Alex (Grandson) → Honourable
Papa was an honourable man, defined by his deep love for his family and the kindness he extended to everyone around him. I am grateful for all the time we spent together and the memories we have formed through years of visiting his home after school, spending important life events together, and the many camping trips, all of which were a cherished part of my childhood.
---
Casey (Grandson) → Legendary Hero
He was my hero not just because he was a great mechanic, but because he was always there no matter how busy life got. Whatever got in his way, he always made time for his family. That’s the kind of man I’ll always look up to and this man I called my Papa.
---
Sarah (Granddaughter) → Devoted
Papa was devoted to everyone in our family. He always showed up with patience, kindness, and his smile. Papa was always around when we needed him to take care of us. I especially remember the summers we spent at Pancake Bay together.
---
Aiden (Grandson) → Unassuming
My Papa was a very unassuming man with his greatest wealth being his family. I will always remember countless Christmases spent together at his home where Papa always treasured the moments with all of us.
---
Tylor (Grandson) → Tenacious
Whether it involved trucks or his family, he would always find a way to get the job done. In his own creative style too.
---
Jacob (Grandson) → Quiet
My Papa was never one for small talk, but when he did have something to say, you knew it came straight from the heart.
---
---
Jean Marc (Brother) → Ingenious
Building go-carts, steering assemblies, like an engineer.
---
Pierrette (Sister) → Peaceful Caregiver
Taking care of siblings close to his age.
At 10 years old, Jude and his oldest sister Lise had 9 kids to take care of.
---
Geatan (Brother) → Generous
Always willing to share whatever he had. Tools and knowledge. What was his, was yours, no questions asked. He accepted you for who you were and never judged.
---
Yvon (Brother) → Reliable
Yvon was a trucker. On the road always. Trucks break down, who do you call? Jude. He could fix anything. He got Yvon out of many difficult situations.
---
Francine (Sister) → Wisdom
Great wisdom and ideas well thought out.
---
Rémi (Brother) → Trouble Shooter
Remi was a body man just like his brother Claude. Repairing damaged cars and if he had problems with the mechanical parts, who would he call? “Jude.”
---
Louise (Sister) → Gentle Soul
He never complained about anything, always smiling. Very easy to please.
---
Suzanne (Sister) → Meek
A quiet, gentle, and submission-natured man. Patient and never argued.
---
Ronald (Brother) → LOVE
To serve others.
---
Ginette (Sister) → Kindness
He was a kind man who didn’t want to bother anyone.
---
Jocelyne (Sister) → Attuned
To his family’s needs and a great mechanic.
