

Julie Chouinard was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Julie will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Julie was born on July 7, 1980 at Sault Ste Marie General Hospital in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Canada. She was the daughter of Evelyn and David Chouinard. Julie grew up in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Canada.
Julie was raised with two sisters. She had Jenny-Lynn who was two years younger than her and Jana who came 2 years after that. Julie was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings loved each other fiercely. Julie truly was the glue holding this family together. They always knew that Julie would have a short life so they made the very best of each moment knowing they would be treasured memories some day.
As a young girl, Julie had a number of interests. Julie was an active child who took part in bowling with the Sunshine Bowlers. She was a lover of dances with the Eagles Club. She loved her movies especially musicals and shared that joy with Jason. The two were very close and meant the world to each other. However, to Julie, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends.
Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Julie enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. While growing up, some of her best friends were Corrine, John, Nicholas, Lauren, Tylor. All of her life she was particularly close to Jason who held a very dear spot in her heart.
Julie enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were bowling, dancing, going to hockey games, and attending Elim Pentacostal Church where she became close to pastor Benny Kjiersdam who prayed with her often. She also enjoyed nights out to Verdi Bingo. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Julie found pleasure in sports. Julie was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so. Tops on her list was hockey. She loved being able to go to her local OHL team the Soo Greyhounds games and loved the Montreal Canadians like her dad.
Throughout her life, Julie enjoyed her family and friends. Movie dates with her niece Taya and her nephew Marc were very special to her.Throughout her later years, Julie was an active member of the Sunshine Bowlers and took part in various activities with Community Living Algoma.
Julie’s faith was important to her. She was a member of Elim Pentecostal Church And developed a close relationship with Pastor Benny Kjiersdam who prayed with her often and was there in the final moments of her life praying for her and supporting her family as they said goodbye.
Julie passed away on January 5, 2015 at Sault Area Hospitals in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. Julie fought a hard battle against pneumonia and ultimately it was too much when combined with the complications of her cerebral palsy. She is survived by her parents Evelyn and David Chouinard. Sisters Jenny-Lynn (David) and Jana (Jason). And her beloved nieces and nephews Anna, Jack, Haley, Ryley, Taya, Marc and Amelia. Also by her many aunts and uncles and cousins. She will also be dearly misses by her Community Living Algoma family. Services were held at Arthur Funeral Home.
Simply stated, Julie was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Julie leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Julie Chouinard.
