Margaret Lynne McCarthy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom Lynne at Sault Area Hospital, peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, September 19, 2026 in her 83rd year.

Born on October 11, 1943, Lynne was the beloved daughter of the late Molly and Bob Symes. Dear sister of James Symes.

Lynne was the loving wife of the late Lorne McCarthy who predeceased her in 2015. Loving mother of Kevin (Joelle) and Shauna Van Boerdonk (Michael). Cherished Nanny of Tyler McCarthy, Sarah Van Boerdonk (Philipp) and Erik Van Boerdonk (Paige). Great Nanny of Amelia, Grayson and McKenna. Special sister-in-law of Joan Johnston (Allan), late Roy Jr, Janice Reid (Scott), Marlene Wood and Richard (Julie). Special aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was lucky to have such extended family that she made so many wonderful memories with.

Lynne was so fortunate to have a life full of friends - some life-long and others that joined her life along the way; all were very special to her. Thank you to Ferne & Larry MacKay, Jo Ann & late Doug Rhodes, Marilyn & late Tim Pasternak, Anita & Ed Calhoun, Geri & Ian White, Brenda & late Terry Wilson and Pilvi & Gary Spurway. Your true friendship and love enhanced our Mom's life immeasurably.

Special thanks to Dr. Berry and Dr. Shafiee, Karen Brunetta, Tammy See and all of the wonderful hemodialysis nurses that cared for our Mom. Your loving care helped her through a difficult time with her health. Thanks to the doctors and nurses of 3B and to Dr. Booth for the wonderful care given to our Mom.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honour of Lynne in the latter part of October. Arrangements to be announced by Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel.

Donations in honour of Lynne may be made online or in person to the Sault Area Hospital Renal Care Fund or the Group Health Centre Trust Fund. Donations to these Funds will also be accepted at the Funeral Home (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522).
