

MEDAGLIA, Maria - It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Maria Medaglia, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the age of 85 years.
Born on April 17th, 1940 in Aiello Calabro, Italy, Maria will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Rosario (Lynn), Carlo (Sue) and Roberto (Sylvie); grandchildren: Carmen (Kirsti), Michael (Julie), Carlo, Lisa, Mary (Enrique), Christina (Frank) and Robert (Jessica); great-grandchildren: Ainslee, Amirah, Khadijah, Rocco, Luca, Oliver and Gianna; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Maria is now reunited with her husband of 62 years, Carmelo. Dear sister of the late Pasquale (Anna). Predeceased by her parents Giovanni and Rosina Coccimiglio. Daughter-in-law of the late Rosario and late Concetta. Sister-in-law of the late Eugenio (Antonia), late Giuseppe (Vittoria), late Maria (late Giovanni), and the late Rosa (late Leone).
We will treasure memories of her sense of humour, famous meatballs, breadsticks and marble cake that adorned family dinners. Maria’s deep love for her family and desire to see each of us happy will be carried in our hearts. Even in the depths of dementia during her final years, Maria continued to bring joy to her family. She will be profoundly missed.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Extendicare Van Daele Nursing Home for their care of Maria, and to the staff at the Sault Area Hospital, unit 3A for their care and compassion in her final days
Family and friends are invited to visit at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522) on Saturday, November 8, 2025 between 11:00 am - 12:30 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm with Deacon Robert Thibodeau officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to may be made in Maria’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
