ROWAT, Marian Barbara (Thomson) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marian Barbara Rowat, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the age of 87.
Marian was a woman of deep faith and great love, whose life was a beautiful example of strength, kindness, and devotion to her family and to God. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she carried that faith with her through every moment of her life. She had a special gift for touching the lives of others, offering love, encouragement, and support to those around her. Her gentle spirit and unwavering faith were an inspiration to her family and to the many people who were blessed to know her.
Marian was the loving wife of the late Gordon Rowat, with whom she shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a family and a legacy of love that will continue through generations.
She was a devoted mother to John McFarlane (Mary), Brian Rowat (Cheryl), Versa Wilson (the late David), Glen Rowat (Jody), and Richard and Connie Hornblower. Her greatest joy was her family, and she took great pride in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Marian was a cherished grandmother to Adrienne Rowat, Holly Rowat, Nathan Rowat (Julia), Alyssa Rowat (Samantha Nolan), Joshua Rowat (Lexi), Jonathon Bujold (Michelle), Rachelle McGrath (Donny), Michelle Ball (Scott), Mike Coppock, Joseph Hornblower (Angela), Jeffery Hornblower (Cara), Bethany Jansen, and Lindsey Hornblower (Austin). She was also a proud great-grandmother to more than 21 great-grandchildren and more on the way, each one a precious part of the family she loved so dearly.
She was the beloved daughter to the late Harvey and Lillian Thomson and a dear sister to James Thomson (Pat), Bessie McEdwards (Ron), Linda Evans (Art), Alice Stanton (James), Rose McFarlane (Bob), Grace Carey (Earl), Betty Emery (Murray), Florence Burge (Len), and Patricia Trumble. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many many nieces and nephews.
For many, many years, Marian was a devoted member of the New Apostolic Church, where she faithfully served and offered love, care, and support to others. Her commitment to her faith and church community remained an important part of her life until her passing. Through her faith, she found strength and purpose, and through her love, she brought comfort and encouragement to so many.
Our mom’s life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and love. She continued to be an example of strength and perseverance throughout her life, leaving behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though her family and friends will deeply miss her presence, they find comfort in the faith she held so dear and in the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her family, her New Apostolic church family, and the countless people whose lives she touched throughout her lifetime.
