We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at home with her daughters by her side, at the age of 95.
She is now reunited with our dad, Daniel James Romanchuk, who predeceased her in 2007. Mary was the loving and cherished mother of Nancy Mazzapica, Donald (Caroline) of Surrey, BC, and Holly. She leaves behind her much-loved grandsons, Ryan Mazzapica (Andrea), Daniel Romanchuk, and Jared Romanchuk of Surrey, BC, and was the proud "Special Baba" of her great-granddaughter, Madison. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Peter. Mom was predeceased by her beloved parents, Michael and Michelina Komhyr; her sister, Nellie Bordenuk (Nicholas); and her brothers, Harry (Edna) and William. Cherished Auntie Monia or Auntie Mary of many nieces and nephews. Mom was also predeceased by her parents-in-law Nicholas Romanchuk (Rose), sister-in-law Frances Borody (Alex) and brother-in-law Ed Romanchuk (Edith). She is also fondly remembered by many members of the extended Romanchuk families.
Family and friends are invited to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522) on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. with Father Michael Hayes officiating. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations in Mom's memory may be (payable by cheque or online) to St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Alzheimer Society or to a charity of your choice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Romanchuk family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Alan McLean and the Superior Health Team, the staff at Jon's Medicine Shoppe, SAH Emergency, the paramedics teams, and the fire services for the compassionate care and support they provided to our mother.
