It is with deep love and gratitude that we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred Mancuso, who left us her way at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the remarkable age of 97.
Her family was blessed to enjoy her good health for all but the last month of her life. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, James (April 4, 2014), and with the many cherished members of the Prokopchuk and Mancuso families who went before her. Mildred was the loving mother of Cathy Farnsworth (late William), Pat Mancuso, Chris Corboy (Robert), and Gary Mancuso (Brenda‑Jayne). She was the cherished Nana of David, Robert (Monica), Jennifer (Jason), Melissa (Dan), and the late Dan Boucher, Lauren (Mike), Lindsey (Tyson), and Caitlin (Russell). She was the very proud Nana‑Nana to her great‑grandchildren, Triniti, Jorjanna, Quinn, Jase, Sophie, Jaxton, Daphney, Aislyn, and Nash, and a very special Nana to Brayden and Jack. Predeceased by her parents William and Annie Prokopchuk, Mildred was the dear sister of the late Mary Wysynski (late John), late John Prokopchuk (late Ellen), late William Prokopchuk (late Rita), late Sophie Prokopchuk, late Phyllis Symboluk (late Walter), Mac Prokopchuk (Greta), Gloralyn Donnelly (late Frank), late Paul Prokopchuk (late Gail), and Roselyn Seguin (Joe). She was also predeceased by all of her in‑laws: Tom Mancuso, Rose Porcaro (Eugene), Anthony Mancuso (Eda), Dominick Mancuso (Lucy), Joseph Mancuso (Theresa), and Pete Mancuso. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited for a visitation at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East, 705-759-2522) on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church (293 St. Georges Avenue East) at 1:00 p.m., with Father Michael Hayes officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association or ARCH (Children’s Bereavement Program) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful, caring, and compassionate staff of the Ontario Finnish Resthome, who provided exceptional care to our mom over the past 11 years. Special thanks to Crystal, Chris, and Brady—she truly loved each of you. Deep appreciation is also extended to Dr. Jarrett for his many years of dedicated care, and to the 3rd Floor Palliative Care Team for their recent support and compassion.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
