August 17, 1935 - July 12, 2026
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Extendicare Maple View at the age of 90.
Myrna was born in Canobie, New Brunswick. Daughter of the late Oscar and Anna Sealy (nee Ellis) and step-daughter of the late William Johnson. She was the wife of Herman Hebert for 65 years, until his passing in 2024, and the mother of Karen Swol (Ken Dubie), of Ottawa. Sister of the late Fred Sealy (late Dorothy), the late Fern Vienneau (late Ernest), the late Manford Sealy (Shirley), Ada Damignani (late Curt) and the late Edwina Arnold. Sister-in-law of the late Eloi Hebert, the late Diane Joliecoeur, the late Annette Noël (George), the late Susan Fortune (Loftus Benjamin), the late Al Hebert (Angie) and Robert Hebert (Susan). She was 'Auntie Myrna' to many nieces and nephews.
Myrna worked in the accounting department at the Group Health Centre from 1965 until her retirement in 1990, with 25 years of service. She had many friends and enjoyed her work and support to the community.
She liked to bowl at the Northcrest Bowling Lanes with the ladies on Thursday nights and in a couple’s league with Herman and their friends on Saturday night. She and Herman liked to travel to New Brunswick to see family and friends and to Ottawa to see their daughter. They travelled to Europe on a few occasions and liked to escape the winter by vacationing in Florida or California. Many years were spent enjoying their cottage on St. Joe's Island, walks on the beach, boat rides and fishing, and tending to their gardens. Myrna truly had a green thumb for the many vegetables and flowers she grew at both their home and cottage. She also loved feeding and watching the many birds, especially the hummingbirds, that would come around.
The family is very grateful for the wonderful care that Myrna received at Extendicare Maple View since August of 2023.
Friends are invited to visit at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm, followed by a service at 3 pm, with Janice Seppala officiating. Memorial contributions (by cheque or online) to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated. Messages of condolence may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
