FALCIONI, Richard Arthur – “Angels waited patiently outside of room number 4. We were heartbroken yet peaceful when you opened that door. It was not a goodbye as we believe in much greater. We will miss you always but we will see you later.”
Peacefully in the arms of his family at Algoma Residential Community Hospice (Room 4) on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025 in his 73rd year, after a short, graceful, dignified and heroic battle with cancer.
Richard is now reunited with his adored, greatly missed and loved parents Joseph and Margaret, his beloved brother Larry and precious sister Diana. Richard was also greeted by his grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who have went before him. Oh, what a beautiful reunion that must have been. We believe but still can only imagine.
Left to celebrate his life and cherish his memory are his best friends and biggest fans, his brother Joe (late Lynn), sister Angela (Bob) and sister-in-law Linda, who were blessed because Richard was and always will be their beacon of hope. There could never be a better uncle and confidante to Siobhan (Neville), Aaron, Samia and Matthew who considered him a pillar of compassion and a symbol of all that is good in the world. Their respect for Uncle Rick will never waver. Much loved great uncle to Mikayla and Jayden, who he loved and adored immensely. Richard was blessed to be survived by his Uncle Ron (Helen), Uncle Ken (Eileen) (our earth Angels) and Uncle Lional (Lucy) whom he respected and loved profoundly.
Richard will watch over his remaining cousins, friends and co-workers at Metro Churchill Plaza and Northern Avenue whom he considered family and loved each one of you dearly. Richard will be incredibly missed by his nephew and niece pups Toby, Scooby and Kali, cats, Lily and Lola.
Richard was a bright shining light in our lives, a hard worker, kind, loving, forgiving and loyal man who had a radiant smile and a positive attitude, a honourable quality he upheld until the end of his earthly time. No matter what, Richard found the good in people, in any situation and would pray for anyone who might be struggling. Most of all, Richard was a fierce and loyal family man, loving us whether near or far, always excited for visits, family dinners, the Christmas season and would call us often many times a day to chat or tell us about the upcoming sales in the Metro flyer or televised Greyhound game. These calls will be missed as the silence will be deafening.
Richard had a great love for music, finding peace in the lyrics. We promise to keep playing your music beautiful man.
On this journey, we were blessed with the best possible care, from the EMT’S, ER, ICU team, 3C and 3A at the Sault Area Hospital and ARCH.
How grateful was Richard to have the most amazing family doctor whom he respected deeply. Dr. B. Jarrett, your care was exceptional and your pure heart will never be forgotten. To Dr. Apostle, your compassion, support, wisdom and gentle care will forever stay with us and may you continue to be wrapped in goodness for all your days. To the families we met along the way, may your angel’s never leave your side.
To all of our Angel’s at heavens waiting room (ARCH), there are simply no adequate words to describe you. From management, supportive care, RN’s, RPN’s, PSW’s, Chef Tom and all the amazing volunteers, your love, compassion, commitment, enthusiasm and honest care for humans is truly a fine art you have mastered. Never change as you make one’s transition a little softer. Richard loved you all, thank you and may a bright white light of love and protection surround you forever and a day.
If you so kindly feel inclined to make a donation (payable by cheque or online) in memory of Richard, please donate to ARCH (patient care). If you are unable to donate at this time, please consider in the future purchasing ARCH 50/50 tickets, a meal card or grocery gift card for Chef Tom to purchase ingredients to honour patients wishes for their last meals. They fed our soul without hesitation and held space for us with pure love during our stay with them. The blessing of this compassionate care and its staff are essential to our community. A huge kiss to Peter, Tracy and Abby and all of Richard’s Metro family for making his last wishes come true. You are a testament of the love and empathy you spill onto others. Thank you from every ounce of our heart.
“Ricky, thank you for allowing me to be with you day and night during your journey. I will cherish this time for all my days. Death took your body but my mind and heart hold our memories. Your sense of humour, rawness and that great big smile made these days easier. Our path may change but the bond between us will always be strong. Thank you for being my secret keeper and remember you promised to visit me in my dreams. I will honour you, respect you and love you forever and always. A grateful heart is never empty, love Angela.”
P.S. Ricky please hug Ross for us!!
