Loving father of Tyler, Jessica, Jazmyn (Liz) and Jayden. Brother of Rob (Heather). Uncle of Luke and Rene. Proud Grandpa of Myles. Loving son of Bob and Joanna (pre-deceased).
Rich had a way of making everyone he met feel like family. If you were his friend, you were his family. Whether it was a brief encounter or you were one of his many lifelong friends, or somewhere in between, he made you feel special. Rich loved hard and unconditionally, and he was loved.
After a long career travelling across Canada, he moved home to the Sault almost two years ago to accept his dream job with the Building Maintenance and Construction Program. He was so incredibly honoured and grateful to use a lifetime of skills and experience in the construction field to teach and mentor his students and give them the tools to empower them and improve their lives. But his greatest skill was building up his people, encouraging them and making them feel valued.
A very special thanks to a few of his dearest friends, who helped take care of his girls who rushed to his side. Kevin, Shawn, Michelle, Myles, B.J., Susan and Shauna. You looked after his girls like he would of, and we are forever grateful.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Sault Area Hospital, including the Cancer Centre and the ICU for the exceptional care, compassion and love they showed Rich, his family and friends. A special mention to Karen, Rich’s childhood friend, for her kindness and support.
